Polish prime minister Donald Tusk asked newly elected Chancellor Frg Friedrich Merets to expand the deadline for German Patriot Air Defense Systems in Poland until the end of this year.
On Wednesday, May 7, the head of the Poland government said at a press conference following a meeting with the German Chancellor in Warsaw, RMF24 reports.
“We talked about the German Patriot battery, watching the hub and airport in Zheshuvu. I turned to Mr. Chancellor with a proposal for the German side to think about expanding the German patriotic until the end of the year,” said the Prime Minister.
At the same time, Tusk noted that the Federal Republic of Germany’s decision this time would take “some time”, and he did not expect an “instant answer” to his request, as he understood that the issue requires a long -term consideration.
In January 2025, these systems were deployed to Yasenka Airfield in Polish Zheshuv, which is the main hub for the supply of foreign weapons in Ukraine. The initial period of their placement expired for six months.
The Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Scheof and Poland Donald Tusk announced their desire to deepen the cooperation between countries. The signing of the -The Agreement is scheduled for early July in Warsaw.
