The American leader believes this decision is wrong, but does not insist on Russia’s return.
US president Donald Trump believes the decision to exclude Russia from Big Seven (at that time of Big Eight) is “very stupid.” He said this in a conversation with journalists on Tuesday, May 6, reports the Associated Press.
In particular, Trump said the United States would accept the G7 Summit in 2027. He also remembered that earlier the group was called the G8 and with Russia, but in 2014, after the Crimea joint, it was evicted from the government club of highly developed countries in the world.
Trump called this decision, which, according to him, also asserted by US president Barack Obama, “very stupid”, because “this is a group of people sitting at the table and adding that he is also at that table.
He further suggested that Russia’s exclusion could provoke Ukraine’s full -scale invasion.
“As a result, millions of people may have died today,” Trump said.
At the same time, when asked if the United States would assert Russia’s invitation to the future G7 Summit, the President of the United States replied: “No, now is not the best time.”
Remember, in his first term, in 2019, Trump at the G7 Summit in Biarrice fought with leaders of other group countries, asserting that Russia should return to its composition.
At the same time, Russia said they didn’t intend to return to Big Eight, as many issues were better to solve in the G20 format.
