But Alcatraz has become famous these years when it is on the rock above San Francisco Bay in North California, there is a federal prison for the most prominent US gangsters. During the period from 1934 to 1963, criminals were moved to prison as it was considered dangerous for other prisons in the mainland. The prison was closed 63 years ago, but myths about it continue to live thanks to Hollywood films.
It is impossible to run
American authorities believe it is impossible to escape from Alcatraz due to strong waves and cold water in San Francisco Bay. By 1912, the world’s largest reinforced concrete building stood here.
And since 1933, the reputation of the imprisonment area of a special kind since the alkatrase was formed: he has become a prison prison, as his federal Bureau of Correctional Institution of the United States. In practice, this means that the prisoners are sent here, which is too rebellious to keep them in other US prisons.

But five are not found: authorities consider them to be missing, though some suggest that they may have escaped.
The main reason for the closure of Alcatraz in 1963 was the cost of its content. According to the US Department of Justice, $ 5 million is required for repairing buildings whose sea salt has been -corroded, and about $ 10 a day is taken to maintain each prisoner, which significantly exceeds the costs of other institutions.
