There was a new major exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
This was announced today, May 6, the press service of the coordination personnel for the management of prisoners of war.
This time, 205 defenders of Ukraine were returned from Russian captivity. Among them are representatives:
- The armed forces, in particular the military fleet, the air forces, the air assault troops, the forces of the TRO;
- National Guard;
- State Border Service.
Three Ukrainian officers and 202 soldiers and sergeants return home, they said at the headquarters of coordination.
It is noted that the liberated defenders defended Ukraine in the directions of Donetsk and Lugansk in the region of Zaporozhye and Kharkiv, in the regions of Kherson, Sumi and Kiv. Also, among them, the defenders of the garrison of Maripula.
Today’s exchange of the fifth this year and the 64th from the very beginning of a full-scale invasion. In total, 4757 Ukrainian citizens were released in the process of coordination and exchanges since March 2022, the department says.
The exchange took place using the United Arab Emirates.
