The first round of the presidential election on May 4 began in Romania.
Today, the Romanians will try to elect the president on the second attempt, since the results of PRE -VOTE on November 24, 2024 were canceled by the Constitutional Court after special services. In these elections, citizens cast a candidate from the distant right Kelin Georgage, but violations were recorded – illegal advertising, manipulation in Tiktock and Russian hybrid attacks. Currently, 11 candidates are participating in the race. The new favorite of the president is the leader of the Romanian unity of the Romanian George Nikola Simion. According to Europeelect Surveys. EU, its rating is 29%.
Also among candidates:
- Nikuor-Daniel Dan (independent candidate) is the former mayor of Bucharest, who, according to Atlasintel, can be released in the second round.
- Elena Valerik Lasconi (“Union of Romania”) is a professional candidate, who, as expected, will be released in the second round of the 2024 elections.
In Romania, all 18 thousand 979 polling stations opened at 7.00 in the morning and will work until 21.00. The results of the first exit fields are expected after the sections are closed.
It is predicted that after the Central Bureau of the election calculates the voices and announces the results, on May 18 they organize the second round of elections, which will meet two leaders of the first round.
