The greatest cost

The greatest increase of military costs was recorded in Europe (by 17%) and the Middle East (by 15%).

Ukraine military costs make up 34% of GDP, which makes our country The most diligent economy in the world. In the second place in this indicator is Israel with 8.8%. Russian economic military costs are 7.1% of GDP.

Europe

In Europe, Poland became the leader of the annual military spending (by 31% compared to 2023, up to $ 38 billion, 4.2% of GDP) and Germany (28%, up to 88.5 billion). Sweden in the first year of NATO membership increased military costs by 34% to $ 12 billion. Thus, it reached a 2% of the GDP, which is similar to the level of the lower threshold of the military burden.

Two European nuclear powers – the UK and France – increased military costs, respectively, by 2.8% to 81.8 billion dollars (sixth place in the world) and 6.1% to 64.7 billion (ninth area).

The Middle East

Increasing military costs by 58% recorded in Lebanon. In 2024, he managed to overcome the long -term political crisis and significantly reduce the influence of military groups, especially hizballs, who have experienced heavy losses in the war in Israel. However, in full number, Lebanon military costs remain small – $ 635 million (Israel is 46.5 billion). And mainly in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia spent $ 80.3 billion on military purposes.

At the same time, Iran’s military costs were reduced by 10%. Due to economic penalties and crisis, the country could not increase them, despite the tense relations with Israel and the USA.

Asia

China has increased military costs by 7%, up to 314 billion dollars (this is half of all military expenditures in the Asia-Pacific region); Taiwan – of 1.8%, up to 16.5 billion; Japan is 21%, up to 55.3 billion.
