The European Union will convince Hungary not to hinder Ukraine’s progress on the way to become a member of the European Union through dialogue. This was on Monday, April 28, in an interview with the Radio Liberty European Commissioner for the expansion of Marta Kos.
He admitted that Ukraine could open six negotiations of negotiations this year.
The European Commission reported in March 2025 that Ukraine, according to the EU, was ready to open the first cluster of negotiations on membership. However, Hungary blocked this decision, which was required from Ukraine to restore all national minority laws to the 2017 model.
“Ukraine has done enough – I can say this from my personal experience, because I contributed to the dialogue between Hungary and Ukraine. There are many questions, and Ukraine is ready to fulfill all the requirements. But for Hungary it’s not enough. Now we must find a way to convince Hungary to open the first cluster,” the Europa Commission said.
