The leader of the EU diplomatus expressed hope that Washington would take a tighter position related to Moscow before stopping his peace efforts.
The Supreme EU representative for foreign activities Kai Callas said the United States has not depleted its pressure on Russia’s pressure. He said this in an AFP interview, which was published on Tuesday, April 22.
“They didn’t notice a Truce. Obviously: Russian games play, take time and really don’t like peace,” Callas said.
According to him, the Kremlin believes that time is performing in their favor, so they do not show good intentions or good will.
Kallas said the 30-hour Truce announced by Russia was a trick, designed to prevent Trump’s “losing patience” with respect to the Kremlin.
He noted that Kyiv and his European allies hope that Washington will take a tighter position related to Moscow before he stops his peace efforts.
“They have tools for pressure in Russia. They haven’t used it yet,” Callas emphasized.
“If they move, without taking advantage of the available tools, then I have a big question: Why? Why don’t they use everything to complete this war?” Said Kallas.
He also expressed fear that Trump could stay away from the war in Ukraine, but at the same time continued “ordinary transactions and businesses” with Moscow.
We remind, the previous state secretary Marco Rubio said President Trump for a few days could leave the desire to act as an intermediary between Russia and Ukraine, if there were no clear signs of the possibility of ending a peace agreement.
Later, Trump himself confirmed that America would leave the process of negotiating in the Russian-Ukrainian War, if “one of the parties was all complicated.”
