After a ban on the movements of pedestrians and cyclists, Vilnius forbade the crossing of motorcycles, mopeds or motorized bikes.
The Lithuanian government on Wednesday, April 16, banned the passage of motorcycles, mopeds or motorized bikes through a Medininkai and Schalchininkai checkpoint on the border with Belarus. This was reported by the Lithuanian government press service.
These are the last two checkpoints that have remained working on the border of the two countries.
In the Lithuanian government, this decision was explained by a sharp increase of cases of attempts to cross the Lithuanian-Balarusian border after the movement of pedestrians and cyclists were banned since March 2024.
“Through these points of crossing the border with Belarus, it is possible to drive only cars,” Lithuania told the government.
In addition, Vilnius has the right to temporarily limit people’s movements through Schalchininkai and Moidininkai, “if established that Belarus officials use migrants as a weapon.”
The day before it was reported that citizens with Russia, RB and China passports were unable to join the Military Academy of Lithuania.
