Applications for the provision of asylum from immigrants from these countries will be considered by EU member states in an accelerated manner, as they are believed to have a low chance of success.
The European Commission has suggested to accelerate the implementation of some Pact on Migration provisions and the provision of asylum approved last year and planned for complete implementation on June 2026. It was reported by the EU Press Service on Wednesday, April 16.
We discuss the introduction of two basic policies from regulations to methods for asylum provision, which will allow member states faster and better to consider people’s statements that requests have a low chance of approval.
For the goal of the same purpose, the European Commission began the creation of the first PAN -european list of safe countries of origin – a change within the framework of a package, which would allow the application of an accelerated procedure for applicants from such countries.
What exactly suggests EC:
Threshold value to 20%. If an average of less than 20% of applicants from a specific country receives international protection in the EU, member states can apply an accelerated or border procedure to them.
Flexible in relation to safe third countries and regions. Member states will identify countries or parts of countries safely, as well as determine exceptions for certain categories of applicants.
In the list of safe countries of origin entered:
-
Kosovo
-
Bangladesh
-
Colombia
-
Egypt
-
India
-
Morocco
-
Tunisia
Some member states already have their own national lists, but creating a general list will ensure equal criteria for the application of such techniques across the EU.
The European Commission also noted that candidates for joining the EU, as a general rule, are considered to have a standard standard for a safe country of origin. Exceptions are possible if the country is:
▪ is in a state of armed conflict,
▪ Falling under EU penalties,
▪ or have a level of positive solutions for the provision of asylum more than 20%.
IMPORTANT: Identifying a safe country does not mean automatically decline in asylum. Each application should be evaluated independently.
The proposal should be considered by the European Parliament and the EU Council.
Earlier it was reported that the EU had planned a large -scale change in the transfer policy, in particular, it would review the post -war convention with refugees.
Remember that about 70% of Ukraine refugees plan to stay in Europe. About half of the Ukrainians in Europe are working.
EU proposed a plan for strengthening the exile of migrants
