France announced symmetrical measures in response to Algeria’s recent decision to send 12 French diplomatic officers from the country. Paris said Algeria chose the “path of increase.”
France announced the decision to send 12 Algerian diplomats and consular workers from the country, as well as their ambassador to remove Algeria. BFMTV reported it.
The diplomatic intensity between France and Algeria increased strongly after Algeria announced the people who were not Grata 12 French servants of the Ministry of the Interior and ordered them to leave the country for 48 hours.
Earlier, on March 31, French President Emmanuel Macron tried to restart the dialogue on a phone conversation with the head of Algeria Abdelmadzhid Tebbun. However, the new incident was Algeria’s response to the arrest of France by one of the Algerian Consulate employees suspected of terrorism.
Champs Elysees called Algeria actions “unreasonable and incomprehensible”, accusing her of a sharp breakdown in bilateral relationships. French foreign minister, Jean-Noel Barro, said Algeria “chose the path of increase.”
Algeria, in turn, called her decision “sovereignty” and accused the minister of internal contacts with France Bruno Retayio of the exacerbation of the situation. Retayio, who promotes a strict transfer policy, denies its involvement in the case, which is considered by French justice.
Despite the increase, French authorities have called for the restoration of the dialogue, considering this is the only way to strengthen relationships. Paris also called on Algeria to fulfill transfer and security obligations.
Remember, France and Russia exchanged diplomats evicted. These actions are not disclosed.
