The head of the American Space Base Piffik in Greenland, Suzanne Meyers, was fired after a visit to US Victor Vincent Victor on March 28. It was reported by TV2 on Friday, April 11.

The official reason for the dismissal is called “loss of confidence in his ability to manage.”

Shortly after Vincent’s visit, Meyers sent an email to employees, where he called the unity of staff – Americans, Canadians, Greenlanders and Danes.

“I do not understand politics, but I know for sure: the anxiety that the Vice President expressed is not concerned with our base,” he said.

After the dismissal, the base command was passed to Colonel Shonu Lee.

Greenland has a status of autonomy in Denmark. In 2019, the Donald Trump administration announced his desire to promote US control on the island.

Prior to Vincent’s journey to Greenland, the President of the United States reiterated his argument “We need Greenland.” According to Trump, this is “a question of peace for the whole world.”
