According to the sources of Financial Times, political differences with the US President Donald Trump President were the cause of dignity.
Western diplomats in Kyiv were characterized by Brinka, both of the important defender of Ukraine, both publicly and private from the first weeks of full Russian invasion in 2022. One of them described this as a “strong personality” and “serious diplomat”, adding that pressure from the administrations and Trump had a negative impact on this, the financial time writes.

Officials recently indicated significant changes in their messages, which, in their opinion, has become closer to Trump’s position and more and more critical about Ukraine.
Thus, the analysis of the financial times of the Brinki posts on the social network X discovered significant changes in his rhetoric after the inauguration of Trump on January 20 of this year:
- 75 days before the new presidential admission to this post, she criticized Russia and the war in Ukraine 53 times;
- 75 days after the inauguration, she published only five posts with links to Russia, not one of which is to blame for military operations.
According to Reuters sources, Brinka leaves her position at his own request.
It is noted that it is not yet known who will become a new ambassador. According to the sources of the agency, the candidacy of Chris Smith – deputy assistant secretary in Eastern Europe and political and regional affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian affairs. Earlier, Smith served as deputy head of the mission at the US Embassy in Kyiv from 2022 to 2023.
