In Lithuania confiscated the church bell, which may have been stolen in Ukraine

Experts have established whether the bell is a matter of cultural heritage and whether it can steal it in Ukraine.

In Lithuania, customs officials discovered a church bell, who was illegal to bring a citizen of Moldova through the country’s territory. The artifact is dedicated to Metropolitan Peter Mogile and, perhaps, taken out of Ukraine. This was reported by the Lithuanian Customs Service’s press service.

On the night of March 16, the man passed the Customs Control on the border and said he had nothing to express. However, observing the car, customs officials found a church bell hidden under the bags.

The subject weighs about 260 kilograms, and church inscriptions can be seen here. At the discretion of the inscriptions, the bell may be intended to worship the Orthodox Holy XVII century, the metropolitan of the Kyiv and all of St. Peter’s Rus’ the tomb.

The driver cannot provide any documents about the source and owner of the bell, saying that he does not know that such documents are needed. He later admitted that he had intended to bring him from the Russian city of Podolsk by Belarus and Lithuania in Moldova at the request of the patriarches of Kirill and Nikolai.

Currently, the Lithuania Cultural Heritage Protection Department establishes whether the bell is a matter of cultural heritage. Meanwhile, Customs officials, find out if the bell may be stolen in Ukraine.

Remember that Kyiv Customs officials have prevented exporting cultural values ​​outside of Ukraine – mammoth’s teeth, which the offender tried to provide decorative elements.
