In the past, the Ukrainian military used shells of Soviet calibers, which almost ended up in Europe.
National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said Ukraine was moving to armament according to NATO standards. He said this on the air of the informational telethon on July 18.
“Our country is moving to NATO standards. This is a very important thing. 155 Caliber, other NATO calibers. As for HIMARS, there is some understanding that we are starting to receive shells farther away. than at the beginning. And we hope that what we need, in that range, will soon appear on the territory of our country, “Danilov said.
He noted that Soviet-caliber shells had previously been used, having almost run out in Europe.
“There are Soviet-style shells, called 152 and 122 caliber. Because the war lasts a long time, a large number of shells are used every day. 152 and 122 caliber shells are almost exhausted in general. In Europe, otherwise say it’s over, ”Danilov said.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council stressed that thanks to the supply of weapons on the front, the situation is starting to change.
“Now, thanks to the fact that we receive a sufficient quantity of weapons from our partners, we have been able to establish a certain uniformity in a certain position,” Danilov said.
At the same time, he noted that these weapons are still not enough to end the war with victory for Ukraine as soon as possible, therefore, high hopes are pinned on the assembly of Ramstein-4, which will take place in the coming days.
“I reiterate that the situation has changed compared to what it was in March, in April, even in May … The main thing is that the planes that land every day in the nearest member state do not stop in NATO, which is on our border. Work continues there 24 hours a day, “Danilov stressed.
Recall that Ukraine is actively arming according to NATO standards and approximately one million Ukrainians are already receiving combat and military experience.
