The minister emphasized that Finland does not consider Russia an enemy, but opposes actions and violations of international law.
Finland Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said the time has not arrived to normalize the relationship with Russia, so now this is not the time to call the leader of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin. Support for Ukraine, weakening of the Russian Federation with penalties, defense strengthening remains Finland’s priority. This was reported by Yle.
“It is clear that the United States in Russia has been organizing, and at one point Europe will also enter a dialogue. However, it is more important not to be when and who to say, but what we are trying to achieve with the help of such a conversation,” he said.
According to Valtonen, the news of the ballistic missile hit in civilian objects (refers to attacking the twisted horn, -ED), which led to the death of children, “suggests that the conversation should be postponed.”
The minister also emphasized that Finland is not considering Russia as an enemy, but opposes actions and violations of international law.
“We look forward to good relationships with the neighborhood, but this time has not yet arrived. It all depends on when Russia begins to show a desire to return to the international contract system,” he said.
Foreign minister Finland said that until this happens, it will be too early to talk about normalizing relationships.
“We should discuss this issue with European partners, but, as I said, now it’s not time (normalization, Ed). Instead, we must continue our approach – to support Ukraine, Russia has weakened and strengthens our own defense,” the minister said.
Earlier it was reported that Finland was allocating 28 packets of military assistance to Ukraine, the cost of nearly 200 million euros.
Remember that Finland will lead the coalition for the construction of shelters in Ukraine.
