Foreign Minister Peter Siyarteo received an order from the government to take the necessary legal steps to start the output process.

Hungary has officially began a removal from the International Criminal Court after prime minister Viktor Orban signed the corresponding decision. The Index reported it on Thursday, April 3.

The government said the court became a “political body and no longer meets its main goals.” The step was taken based on the decision of the Ministry of Justice, which indicated hate in the actions of MUS, in particular, the process against the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to government decree No. 1090/2025, Hungary suspended its participation in the Charter of the International Criminal Court and the relevant agreements. Foreign Minister Peter Siyarteo received an order from the government to implement the necessary legal steps to begin the output process.

The decision was made on the day the prime minister of Israel arrived in Hungary.

Instead, international lawyer Lattman Tamash noted that this decision was the main “communication step” of the Hungarian government.

In November 2024, the MUS issued a Netanyahu warrant warrant on war crimes charges committed in a conflict in Gaza. Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban declined to fulfill this command, calling the court’s decision to “politically motivated” and invited Netanyahu to an official visit to Budapest. It was later found that Hungary’s plans were to express the exit from Mus.

Keep in mind that US President Donald Trump signed on February 6 an order on imposing sanctions against the International Criminal Court. The reason was the court’s investigation against Israel.

While the EU said the Commonwealth countries were obliged to carry out the International Criminal Court’s order for the arrest of Prime Minister Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, as this decision was not just “political”.
