President Vladimir Zelensky announced the need for 5 billion euros this year, which should aim to buy at least 2 million shells.
European Union countries have managed to find more than 50% of the required amount for the purchase of at least 2 million shells for Ukraine. This was declared by the EU’s high representative for external work and security policy Kai Callas on Thursday, April 3.
He recalled that Ukraine president Vladimir Zelensky expressed the need for 5 billion euros this year, who should have aimed at buying at least 2 million shells.
“I’m glad we, in fact, have different measures or different countries talking about the readiness to make our contributions, so we already have more than 50% of what we need,” Callas said Before starting an informal meeting of Ministers of EU countries on Thursday in Warsaw.
He also added that from the meeting today he hopes the countries will report what they can do to help Ukraine in a very short time.
Earlier in March, it was learned that European Union authorities were working on a “realistic” plan for 5 billion euros for ammunition for Ukraine.
At the same time, the initiative may not be in line immediately. Italy is opposed to Italy and France, believing that the initiative still needs to work, claimed by resources.
