The head of the French Ultra -right was convicted of illegal assignment of European Parliament funds.
The head of the Ultra -right Party of France, Marine Le Pen, was found guilty of appointing European Union funds. The court, at the request of the prosecutor’s office, was prohibited from running for public positions for five years, and also appointed four years in prison – two conditions and two under arrest at home with an electronic bracelet.
On the eve of the sentence, Le Pen officially said that the court’s decision could lead to his “political death”.
Severe theft
The court ruled that Le Pen and his party were stolen by three million Euro European Parliament, which was intended as a wage for parliamentary assistants.
The prosecutor’s office said the money in question was used to pay for French party employees between 2004 and 2016, violating EU policies.
The judge also passed the beliefs to eight other members of the Party, which, like Le Pen, were lawmakers in the European Parliament. 12 Parliament assistants were also found guilty.
56-year-old Le Pen has denied any offenses, calling the case a political attack aimed at stopping his career.
“There are 11 million people who voted for the movement I represented,” Le Pen said on the eve of the decision on Monday.
He also said that the case against him meant that “potential millions of French will be removed from their election candidate.”
He immediately left the court, without hearing the sentence.
Future political
The court granted the prosecutor’s request that Le Pen would immediately receive five -a prohibition on handling the public office, regardless of the decision of the appeal.
This will prevent him from running for him in the election of the President of 2027, where he is considered the main contender. Lawyers Le Pen said they were arguing with the verdict. The second consideration may be held in 2026, a few months before the vote. However, even after the appeal, Le Pen still dropped election racing.
The Le Pen party said the trial was a violation similar to what happened to US President Donald Trump before the election.
Some of his competitors, including prime minister Francois Bayru, have expressed concern that courts decide who can run for a position.
The 29-year-old president of the National Association of Jordan Bardell is considered a potential replacement for Le Pen in the President’s election of 2027. However, he hopes he will not support his appeal to the court.
Halo -halong reaction to companions
The Kremlin criticized the court’s decision, claiming that it was another evidence that European democracy was a threat.
“More and more European capitals are happening by violating democratic customs,” Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban, whose party party was part of the European ultra-right spectrum, who also suggested his “support”.
One of the most angry reactions came from Deputy Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, who filled the ultra-right league of the league. He called the verdict “a declaration of war with Brussels.”
Le Pendella’s ally, for her part, said French democracy was “killed” because of the “unfair” verdict.
Another French Ultra -inhabit figure Eric Darmur from the Renaissance Party said “not the judges decide who should vote,” added that Le Pen is a legal candidate.
However, Fabien Rousssel, the National Secretary of the Communist Party of France, said that the court’s decision should be respected.
The same opinion was shared by Marin Tondnie, the National Secretary of the Green France party.
“The Marine Le Pen should be sent to the penalty. He is a defendant, like everyone else,” he said.
