The Swedish package includes support for Ukrainian Air Defense, Artillery, Satellite Communications and Marine potential.
Sweden announced the transfer of 19 packages of military aid to Ukraine to Ukraine. This is a record in volume – about $ 1.6 billion. This was announced by the Sweden Paul Joneson Defense Minister on Social Network X on Monday, March 31.
“The package includes, among other things, the support of Ukrainian air defense, artillery, satellite communications and marine potential,” he wrote.
The Swedish government allows the Defense Equipment Administration (FMV) to buy defense equipment from the Swedish, Scandinavian and European Defense Industry, based on the needs of Ukraine’s armed forces for $ 912 million.
“A significant component of international military support was received through multilateral initiatives, coalitions under the contact group for Ukraine’s defense and purchase from Ukraine Defense Businesses. Sweden will allocate nearly $ 465 million for these funds and initiatives,” Yonon said.
The support package also includes the transfer of equipment from Sweden’s armed forces of $ 93 million. In particular, Ukraine will be transferred to Ukraine M/58 type, various ammunition, about 100 cars of various types for airbase delivery, spare parts for previously transferred equipment and more.
Remember that by the end of January, Sweden announced the move of weapons to Ukraine of nearly 1.3 billion dollars. Then he was a note in quantity.
And in September 2024, Sweden gave Ukraine a military assistance for 400 million euros. Then the first time the money was allocated for spare parts for the JAS 39 GriPen warriors, which in the future may be in Ukraine.
