The new version is based on the GM-5970 monitored chassis, which is already used in complex thor, buk and tunguska.

Russian military commissions published the first photos of the new anti-aircraft Missile-Artillery Complex (Zarak) Shell-SM-SV, which had previously been shown only in exhibitions and parades. Defense Express reported it.

The development of this change began in the 2020s after shell-SM failure in the KAMAZ wheel chassis, with problems with cross-country’s ability and stability.

The new version is based on the GM-5970 monitored chassis, which is already used in complex thor, buk and tunguska.

The Russians said the shell-SM-SV was already used in battles and “confirmed their properties.” However, judging by a picture published by the propagandists, the complexity can be found in a stationary position surrounded by nights, indicating its use behind.

The complex, unlike the modernized shell-C1, has no additional protection against FPV-throns and bargaining ammunition, making it weak in the war zone.

According to the developers, the shell-SM-SV should see the targets at a distance of up to 75 km, destroy them at a distance of 40 km and interfere with objects flying at speeds up to 2 km/s (6 sides).

Despite high “analogue” statements, the Russians planned to return these complexes to troops in 2022, but in fact their trials were delayed until 2024.

Keep in mind that despite the US embargo, Russia continues to receive hydro -carbonated engines, which are critical for the manufacture of military equipment.
