The German government agreed to allocate another three billion euros (3.3 billion dollars) for military assistance to Ukraine this year.
This happened after the Bundestag deleted the basic law of Germany. We are talking about financial reform plans. This is evidenced by the document of the Ministry of Finance of Germany, which was represented by Reuters.
This step is considered as a breakthrough after the Chancellor Olaf Sholts, who was retired, insisted that the mitigation of borrowing rules is a prerequisite for additional assistance.
As the uncertainty regarding the future role of the United States during President Donald Trump is growing, European states are under growing pressure to demonstrate its commitment to Ukraine against the backdrop of Russian invasion, including military spending.

According to the document, the Ministry of Finance agreed to additional expenses in the amount of 2.547 billion euros this year. Thus, along with other funds, including compensation from the European Fund of the World, Germany will allocate an additional three billion euros to help Ukraine.
For the period from 2026 to 2029, Kukis plans to approve the obligation to military assistance to Kyiv in the amount of 8.252 billion euros, which led to a total of more than 11 billion euros.
It is expected that the budget committee will approve the distribution of funds on Friday, March 21, provided that the upper house of the German parliament Bundesrat will approve the reform.
On Tuesday, March 18, the lower house of the country’s parliament, Bundestag, approved the dramatic changes in the financial rules of Germany aimed at increasing military spending and reviving economic growth.
