Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, RFE/RL) filed a lawsuit in the US District Court of Colombia against the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) and its officials Kary Lake and Viktor Morales. This is stated on the media website on Wednesday, March 19.
The media company requires an attempt to cancel the grant that the US Congress has approved its financial work.
As indicated in the lawsuit, the refusal of funds provided by Congress opposes the federal law and violates the US Constitution, providing exclusive power of Congress to distribute the state budget.
RFE/RL president Stephen Capus said the defense of media freedom is critical to modern facts.
“Now is not the time to give way to the propaganda and censorship of American opponents. We are sure that the law is on our side, and our defeat is early to celebrate our defeat,” Capus said.
