The European Union is interested in the fact that totalitarian regimes have not developed around it, so steps are required to maintain this institution.
The Czech government recommends the EU to discuss the possible support of the additional work of American Broadcasters Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe (RFE/RL). On Sunday, on March 16, Foreign Minister Yang Lipavsky held the corresponding initiative on Sunday, on March 16, reports DW.
“In our interests, so that the totalitarian regime does not thrive around us,” explained the Czech official. “That’s why we should talk about the steps aimed at protecting this institution,” Lipavsky added.
He also noted that closing these broadcasters would be a loss for all who supported democracy.
“From Belarus to Iran, from Russia to Afghanistan, Radio Liberty and the Voice of America are one of some free sources of information for those who live under oppression,” he added.
The Czech Foreign Minister also warned that if the broadcaster was completely closed, it was very difficult to restore his work.
Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe (RFE/RL) – Private, Independent International Information Organization, that programs – radio, internet, television and mobile communication – occupy the weekly audience of nearly 50 million people in 23 countries, including Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Republic of the Caucasus and Caucasus. The US Congress is funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAGM).
The USAGM oversees several organizations focusing on the scope of the news and the resistance to censorship, the weekly scope of the audience which exceeds 420 million. Among these organizations: Voice of America, the Cuban Broadcasting Office, Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia, Broadcasting Networks in the Middle East, open technology and frontline media funds.
