The SpaceX spacecraft flew to the ISS to pick up two astronauts who stuck there for nine months.

The astronauts of Barry Wilmoru and stick Williams should stay at the station for only 8 days, and they flew there in June 2024 at Boeing Starliner. Subsequently, this spaceship had problems, so the team was supposed to be postponed to the ISS, reports The Guardian.

The capsule has already been attached to the International Space Station. Barry Wilmore and Suni Williams went to orbit in June 2024. The mission was supposed to be short, but the astronauts could not return to Earth.

According to the newspaper, Wilmor and Williams, together with colleagues, Nick Higig and Alexander Gorbunov plan to return home on March 19.

    Travel history

Buha Wilmore and Sani Williams originally completed an eight -year mission, but their stay was postponed from the problems found in the Boeing spacecraft.

The new team, which fell into orbit from the Kennedy space center, included Ann McClain’s military pilots and Nicole Ayers, as well as Japanese Onisha and Russian Kirill Peskov, both former pilots of the airline. They will spend the next six months at the space station, which is considered the usual period.

NASA wants Wilmore and Williams to tell beginners what is happening on board the orbital laboratory. Then they can return home next week.

On the way back, the duet will be accompanied by a luxury of the cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov and the American astronaut Nika Hagg, who completed a rescue mission on SpaceX in September last year.

Being pilots of the new capsule Starliner Boeing, Wilmore and Williams, they were intended to stay at the station for about a week, when Cavern began on June 5th. A series of helium of origin and rejection of motor attitudes overshadowed their journey to the space station, starting a long -term research in NASA and Boeing on how best to do.

Finally, given this dangerous, NASA ordered Starliner to fly out in September last year, as well as Vilmora and Williams to SpaceX, which was supposed to return in February. Their return was again postponed – a completely new SpaceX capsule, necessary for the overhaul of batteries. To save several weeks, SpaceX switched to the capsule used by moving the return of Vilmore and Williams in mid -March.

Already attracting the attention of the world, their unexpectedly long mission received a political turn when President Donald Trump and Ilon Musk from SpaceX promised to accelerate the return of astronauts in the beginning of this year and accused the former administration of the violation.

The captains of the military -marked retired fleet, who have already lived at the space station, Wilmore and Williams have repeatedly emphasized that they support the decisions made by NASA from last summer.

They helped to maintain the work of the station – they repaired a broken toilet, broken plants and conducted experiments – and even together went into the open space.

Having made nine outputs into the open space, Williams set a new female record: the greatest time in space for the whole career.
