Protests against US President Donald Trump took place in Greenland
On Saturday, March 15, about a thousand people gathered for protest in the capital of Greenland – in the city of Nuuk. This is the largest rally in the history of the island. In total, the population of Greenland is about 57 thousand people, and Nuk – 19 thousand inhabitants. Therefore, this number of participants in the action is considered significant. Another protest took place in Sisimit. This was announced by Dagens Nigeter.
The leader of the Democratic Liberal Party, Jens Frederick Nielsen, who, after winning the election, can become the new Prime Minister Greenland, said that the inhabitants of the island “can have different views on many issues, but we are all united.”
During the rally, the participants chanted the slogans: “Yankees, go home” and “We are not sold.”
At the same time, citizens were seen in the city of NUUK, which share the views of the American leader. Trump’s supporters went outside in Caps with Maga (make America Great again), which is the slogan of the current US president.
Recall that US President Donald Trump has repeatedly announced a desire to buy Greenland, although Denmark authorities reject the possibility of selling the island. And recently, Trump said that the United States will certainly establish control of the island. He did not rule out the possible annexation of Greenland.
