USAID has terminated the grant agreement with the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine.
At the end of February, the Secretariat of the Energy Community received an official notification from the US agency for international development after the termination of the agreement with the Fund for Energy Support of Ukraine to provide 75 million US dollars. This was reported to the web site of the energy community.
The statement states that the community expects USAID explanations, since without this grant it will be less accessible to buy the necessary equipment for the Ukrainian energy sector.
It is noted that the US Agency was signed in 2023 in the amount of $ 25 million, and in 2024, USAID promised to provide the fund with an additional $ 50 million.
It is known that the energy community is an international organization that unites the EU and neighboring states to create an integrated background of the European energy market. =
In 2023, the USAID signed an agreement on the provision of the Energy Support of Grants in the amount of $ 25 million, and in 2024 the agency announced its intention to increase the grant by 50 million dollars.
Recall, on March 10, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States will cancel 83% of USAID programs. The remaining 18% of the programs (approximately 1 thousand contracts) will be controlled by DOGE, which is controlled by Elon Musk. In total, 5 thousand 200 contracts were canceled.
The decision to reduce the programs of the US agency for international development was made after a 6-week review.
