The US Republicans in the Raznaya respond to the suspension of American assistance to Ukraine.
According to senators, Donald Trump has the right to suspend the proposal of weapons in order to see the situation at the front, stimulate European allies to increase their contributions and create conditions for negotiations between the President of Ukraine and military criminal Vladimir Putin. Nevertheless, the Republicans admit that a long -term pause can seriously undermine the defense of Ukraine and play in favor of Russia, writes Hill.
Legislators also insist on immediately restoring the exchange of intelligence, emphasizing the importance of providing Ukraine with critical information for the fight. At the same time, some senators suggest that Trump can use the pressure situation on Zelensky to speed up the signing of the fossil agreement.
Trump’s statements were also concerned about the possible cancellation of temporary legal status for 240,000 Ukrainian refugees in the United States. One of the senators -republicans anonymously called the idea “punitive”. After the refugees worked at home in order to deprive them of legal status, it looks in a special strict solution.
Republicans are convinced that Ukraine is currently capable of conducting Russian attacks, but without American assistance, the situation can be critical in 4-6 months. Nevertheless, the leader of the majority in the Senate John Tong emphasizes that this is only a “pause”, and not the final termination of support. He hopes that a compromise will be found, which will ensure respect for the sovereignty of Ukraine.
Senator Todd Young said that he hopes that Trump and Zelensky will be able to “regroup” and “make together and eliminate breaks” in the USA-Ukrainian mineral agreement.
Ukraine managed to restrain Russian troops along the front line, despite the fact that it had ammunition and troops.
But analysts warn that Ukraine’s troops can begin to “split in Russian pressure after four to six months” if European allies are not mobilized quickly to compensate for the deficit of weapons provided by the United States.
The Verkhovna Committee Member of the Rada on defense Fedir Vanislavsky calculated that the supply of his weapons to his country will be enough only for six months without new American assistance, the Air Force reports.
