Europe is looking for satellite communication for replacing Starlink.
Currently, allies are negotiating with four European companies – SES from Luxembourg, Hisdesat from Spain, Viasat from the UK and Eutelsat/Oneweb from France. This was reported by Financial Times with reference to sources that negotiate with the EU and institutions in order to ensure backup communication for Ukraine.
It is noted that Starlinka will not be replaced quickly, because American systems have accumulated in Ukraine for years. The Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov previously stated that more than 40,000 terminals are operating. And they are used not only by military, but also by hospitals, business and humanitarian organizations.
SES General Director Adele al-Seale reported that the company is already providing services to Ukraine and participates in negotiations to expand its capabilities. And Viasat representatives assured that they can help satisfy Ukraine’s needs, because they have significant opportunities that will become even wider in the future.
Nevertheless, none of these European companies can provide services that Starlinka provides. Analysamon Pallerm Serra consulting company, who noted that the American company has more than 7,000 low -level satellites.
We will recall that the Minister of Defense Raizov said that Ukraine also has an alternative to Starlink if the owner of SpaceX Ilon Musk decides to disable the satellite attitude of the armed forces to refuse Ukraine to sign an agreement on fossils.
At the same time, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, Kirill Budanov, emphasized that in Ukraine there is no systematic work to block Starlink.
