The United States has made it clear to the European state that Europe should take care of its own security.
The Czech government has decided to gradually increase defense costs to 3% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2030. On Wednesday, March 5, Ceske Noviny reported.
It is noted that the country is a year old will increase defense costs by 0.2% of GDP by 2030.
According to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Peter Fial, by 2026 the defense budget must reach 2.2% of GDP, and by 2030 – 3%.
He emphasized that increasing defense costs is critical for the country’s security, to note that the Czech Republic should be prepared to protect itself.
“The global situation is very difficult, we are experiencing changes in international interpretation -next to us is a war, aggressive regimes do not hide our ambitions, and we must defend ourselves, and we must answer this situation, putting money and weapons on the table,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, it is possible that NATO member countries will agree with a more ambitious increase in defense costs.
“Said that Russia does not threaten us does not tell the truth,” the prime minister emphasized after the government’s meeting.
In this regard, the country’s defense minister, Yana Chernokhov, suggests that costs are aimed at modernizing the army and air defense.
The President of the Czech Republic Peter Pavel has turned to the countries of the free world with an appeal to create a wide coalition to establish a fair world in Ukraine.
