French President Emmanuel Macron said he decided to start a discussion on the use of French nuclear weapons to protect the entire European Union. On Wednesday, March 5, he said in an appeal to the country.
Macron noted that France has nuclear weapons, so it is better to be protected than other EU countries.
“We have a nuclear weapon, and that’s why we are better protected than many of our neighbors. I decided to start strategic discussions on protection of the entire continent with our nuclear weapons. The decision depends on the heads and commanders -in -chief of European countries,” Macron said.
Earlier, in an interview, which he had given on the way to the climax of European leaders in London, Macron admitted that France would offer to put nuclear weapons on the allies territory to replace the United States. Macron also expressed the opinion that it was time for Europe to increase defense costs to 3-3.5% of GDP.
