The second -generation NASAMS SAM battery consists of 12 launchers, each carrying six missiles.
Ukraine should receive two batteries of the NASAMS air defense system, and not two systems, as previously reported. However, this will not happen as quickly as we would like. This was stated by the command spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat in an interview with NV.
“Not two pieces were promised to us, but two batteries. We understand that few countries in the world have such high-tech weapons and line up for them,” Ignat said.
He noted that while the exact number of anti-aircraft missile systems that Ukraine will receive cannot be made public.
“We’re talking about two batteries that are not just launchers, but also some specific vehicles for charging, for detecting targets and for servicing complexes,” the spokesperson said. .
He noted that the capacities of manufacturers are not unlimited and the supply of NASAMS air defense systems from Norway and German IRIS-T to Ukraine is “not a quick process.”
“Unfortunately, everything will happen gradually and not as fast as we would like now,” he added.
Earlier, the media reported that the Ukrainian military was already studying the NASAMS air defense systems.
