Warsaw would take armored combat vehicles from the United States and replace them with Soviet counterparts, which it provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Poland would buy 116 used Abrams tanks from the United States and, thus, fill the shortfall that arose after Warsaw handed over Soviet T-72 tanks to the Ukrainian army. This was reported by Polskie Radio on Friday, July 15.
The first deliveries will begin early next year, the newspaper notes.
The American armored fighting vehicle will replace the 240 T-72 tanks that Ukraine received as military aid.
The media added that an agreement between the defense ministries of the two countries has been finalized.
Recall that in June the media reported that the Spanish authorities were ready to provide Ukraine with 40 Leopard 2A4 tanks and anti-aircraft missile systems.
However, information later emerged that Berlin had banned Madrid from transferring military vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
