Berlin should continue to support Ukraine in the fight against Russia, despite rising energy prices, believe two-thirds of German citizens.
A significant portion of Germans are ready to support Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, despite the threat of increasing energy costs. This was confirmed by a corresponding poll, conducted between 12 and 14 July by the ZDF TV channel on 1,167 voters, reports the Reuters news agency.
Nearly 70% of respondents approved of Germany’s foreign policy aimed at supporting Ukraine. However, the number of citizens wanting to see stronger military support dropped to 35% from 44% at the beginning of July.
Only 22% of Germans are against Germany supporting Ukraine. They want lower energy prices.
More than two-thirds of those surveyed said aid measures to help Germans cope with the higher costs of war, including cheaper public transport tickets and cheaper fuel, were inadequate. At the same time, 20% were considered satisfactory.
It will be recalled that the majority of Belarusian citizens believe that their military should not assist Russia in its so -called “special operation” in Ukraine, according to the Chatham House Belarusian Initiative.
Earlier it was reported that, according to a survey by Deutschlandtrend, more than 60% of Germans support sanctions against the Russian Federation.
