The United States came “very close” to achieving a peaceful agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation based on the Istanbul Agreement.
US president’s messenger Donald Trump in the Middle East, Steve Vitkoff, said Istanbul’s protocol agreement, agreed in March 2022, could be a “guide” to end a peace agreement between of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Voice of America reported on Sunday, February 23.
The officer did not specify the terms of such a potential agreement, but emphasized that in any peace agreement, “each party will make concessions, whether it be territorial or economic concessions.”
“You will find concessions on both sides. Here,” Vitcoff said.
According to him, if Russia raided one of the NATO countries, then President Trump would “fulfill US obligations in accordance with Article 5 to protect allies.”
“We are very close to signing something,” the special representative of the US chief emphasized, adding that the “Istanbul Protocol Agreement” could be a “guide” for ending a peace agreement with Between Ukraine and Russia.
