Lithuanian president Gitanas Naubeda has removed the former Prime Minister of Ukraine Nikolai Azarov State Award of Lithuania. The LRT reported it.
The President’s President Azarov said it was not included from the awarded list for the fact that he was scattering the high rank of awarded.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine was awarded the Officer Cross of the Order of Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas in November 1998 during a visit to Ukraine after the President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus. At that time, Azarov led the Ukraine state tax service.
Azarov was the prime minister from 2010 to 2014 during the time of curse president Viktor Yanukovych.
Azarov resigned from the prime minister’s post during the protests in Maidan, when people rode the streets to overthrow the Yanukovych government.
Azarov is currently living in Russia.
Keep in mind that Parliament has adopted a bill in stealing state awards of Ukraine traitors. Subsequently, Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky signed it.
