The US and Israel signed the Jerusalem Declaration

US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid signed on Thursday, July 14, the so -called Declaration of Jerusalem. In it, the heads of state also mentioned the war in Ukraine. The text of the declaration was published by the Israeli government.

The document states that the United States is reaffirming its commitment to Israel’s security, strengthening its military capabilities to deter enemies and protect against any threat.

The focus of the declaration was the threat of Iran. The countries have vowed to prevent the emergence of nuclear weapons in Tehran and “use all elements of national power” to thwart Iran’s aggression.

The document also mentions the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The United States and Israel emphasize their concern over the ongoing attacks on Ukraine and their commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and also recognize the importance of providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine,” says the text of the declaration.

At the same time, it was noted that the United States and Israel intend to fight together against any attempts to boycott Israel and attempts to deprive the Jewish state of the right to self-defense.

It will be recalled that on the eve of Biden began his first visit to the Middle East since taking office.
