On February 16, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Poland responded to statements by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski on the creation of the common army of Europe.
We will recall that on February 14 and 15 in Munich there was a security conference, the main theme of which was the “war of Russia against Ukraine”. The position of Poland at the meeting was represented by Prime Minister Donald Tuku.
During his speech, Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for the creation of the “Armed Forces of Europe” to strengthen security on the continent. He emphasized that we are talking not only about the accumulation of weapons, but also about work, technological leadership and economic potential for Europe.
In turn, Radoslav Sikorsky, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, noted that it is necessary to be careful with the term “Armed Forces of Europe”, emphasized that the unification of the national armies is not expected. At the same time, he expressed support for strengthening the defense of Europe.
In addition, the Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the statements of journalists Financial Times, according to which issues of redistribution of Western military in Ukraine will be discussed during the summit convened by Emmanuel Macron. Thus, he said that the direction of the Polish troops to Ukraine is not considered at present, because the obligation of Poland on NATO is to defend the eastern flank of the alliance, that is, its own territory.
A similar statement yesterday was made by the Deputy Minister of Justice Arkadish Mirh, who on the live air of Polsat News said that the Munich conference is making new challenges in Europe, and it is necessary to have various plans of action, but the implementation of European troops in Ukraine is not considered a priority scenario.
