Euractiv journalists considered the official German government statistics to say more than 15 thousand citizens of Ukraine.
Thousands of foreigners were unable to reach Germany when the country continued control over its own borders a year and a half ago. Every fifth of them is a Ukrainian. This has been proven by state statistics, reported publication Euactiv.
The Ukrainians made up 19.1% of those who declined to enter the German border since August 2023. The “first place” of these statistics was occupied by the Syrians – 19.8%.
In total, in 2023, 35.6 thousand foreigners were not allowed in Germany, and last year – 45 thousand. Thus, more than 15 thousand Ukrainians say.
“The results are surprising, as Ukrainians running from Russian invasion of their country usually receive protection and temporary residence in any EU country. They are also allowed to travel as part of the Schengen Recreation Area,” said journalist.
The German Ministry of Internal Interpretation has explained that in most cases, Germany’s denial. If this is done hidden and without prior permission, this may be the reason for refusing to enter.
Some Ukrainians have opened due to the lack of additional documents required even for tourist trips in the Schengen zone framework.
