Officials are confined to the suspicion of appointing people related to Kurdi armed groups in municipal positions.
In Istanbul, 10 District municipal officials are confined for possible relationships with Kurdi armed formations. The AP reported this on Tuesday, February 11.
Among the detainees were the representatives of the leaders of the Cartal and Atashir districts and eight members of the district municipal councils. They are all members of the main opposition of the Republican People’s Party of Turkey.
They were jailed for suspicion of appointing people who were said to be related to Kurdi’s armed formation in municipal positions, allowing the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (RPK) to penetrate the municipalities.
Critics consider preventing a portion of the government’s campaign to discredit the mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu, which is considered a potential opponent of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the upcoming president’s election.
The mayor of Istanbul has been convicted of insult members of the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey, and he is facing a ban on political activity if his sentence in 2022 confirmed by the Court of Higher Authority.
Imamoglu is also under investigation into the charges of involvement in the likely filtering of proposals to a soft held in 2015.
Keep in mind that the United States and Kurdi armed groups have come to an agreement on the removal of 10 thousand fighters from Syria. They should be moved to Iraq with heavy weapons.
