In the Ust-Lug port in the region of Leningrad, tonight, February 9, Koala tanker, which sailed under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, began to sink.
This was reported by Russian media and telegrams.
It is noted that:
- At night, about 130 thousand tons of oil were loaded on the tanker, but before the outflow in the machine compartment threatened three powerful explosions;
- The crew (24 people, including four Russians, eight Georgia and 12 Indonesia) managed to go ashore, but the court department began to flood;
- Closer to morning, it turned out that the ship was sitting in shallow water;
- Around the tanker the struggle. According to preliminary data, the leak of oil products did not occur in the water.
Local governor Alexander Drozdenko has already confirmed the information about this “Technical Incident”.
During the start of the engine, there was an incident with a person who damaged the machine compartment. The tanker rolls near the pier. There is no threat of oil spill, he wrote in his Telegram channel.
