More than 1,700 hectares of forest have been burned by two major fires in southwestern France. This was reported by Reuters.
The fire consumed more than 1,000 hectares around the town of Landiras, south of Bordeaux. Roads were blocked there and about 500 people were evacuated.
A second fire raging on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, near the famous Dune du Pyla (the highest sand dune in Europe), has already burned 700 hectares. Six thousand people were evacuated from nearby campsites, most of them tourists. All tourists were taken to the exhibition and shopping centers in La Teste-de-Buch.
The fires were extinguished by about 600 firefighters with the help of six hydrobombers. As local authorities added, they expect national reinforcements.
Remember that large forest fires take place in Portugal. Dozens of people have already been injured there, and up to 43 degrees are expected in the country in the next few days.
