The United States is already in contact with several countries that consume Russian oil, including India and China.
The White House is in talks with major oil-consuming countries to set a price ceiling for Russia’s oil. This was announced at a briefing on Wednesday, July 13, by U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
He noted that negotiations on this topic will “last.”
“Regarding setting the price limit (for oil – ed.), Detailed consultations are taking place right now, mainly between the EU, UK and US on the parameters and how it will work,” Sullivan said.
He added that the process would not be completed in a few days and would “take time” to resolve some related issues. The US is already in contact with several consumer countries, including India and China, he said.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden promised a “big problem” for oil from Russia. The US and its allies will not provide insurance to Russian tankers carrying oil. This will interfere with the transportation of this energy source.
Also, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida reported that the highest oil price in the Russian Federation after the introduction of forced restrictions on its cost by the G7 will not exceed half the current purchase price.
