An employee of the Odessa Zoo received an unusual sentence due to calls for separatism.
The Unified Register of Court Decisions reported that on July 4, a court in Odessa announced a verdict in the case of a Kazakh native who is a Ukrainian citizen and works at a local zoo.
On February 14, he published a message on the Odnoklassniki social network calling for separatism, in particular, he wrote:
Odessa get up! Let’s overthrow the hydra of the Kyiv Nazi regime of drug addicts… Odessa is Novorossiya! Let’s all thank our soldiers who give their lives for our liberation! Russian soldier-Odessa is waiting and praying for you!!!
In court, the man pleaded guilty and Judge Poprevic sentenced him to five years of probation with a three-year probationary period.
A separate part of the sentence concerns reading literature, in particular:
… to comply with the requirements for leisure activities established by the court, namely: to read the works of Ivan Bagryany “Tiger Catchers”, PERSON5 “Yellow Prince” and FACE6 “Maria”.
Earlier in Odessa, Judge Garsky sentenced those accused of theft to one year of probation and ordered them to read the works of the classics. We are talking about “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” by Mark Twain, “White Fang” by Jack London and Taras Shevchenko’s poem “Days pass, nights pass …”.
On January 5, 2022, the same judge found the 35-year-old entrepreneur guilty of causing minor bodily harm and fined him UAH 850. In addition, the judge recommended that the man read the novel by American writer Eleanor Porter “Polyanna”.
