US President Donald Trump signed an order creating a working group, offering new rules for regulating cryptocurrencies and investigating the possibility of forming a national stock of digital owned. The team included representatives of the Ministry of Finance, SEC and CFTC. Reuters reported this on Friday, January 24.

The corresponding move is the response to many calls by the crypto industry to the government to introduce a more transparent and favorable policy.

The working group should offer a regulatory framework for digital assets, including StableCoins – cryptocurrencies tied to the dollar. At the head of the team, David Sax, the former head of PayPal and a venture capitalist engaged in the development of artificial intelligence and financial technology, was appointed.

The decree also prohibits the creation of digital currencies by the central bank that could compete with existing cryptocurrencies. Separately, it is said about the protection of banking services for crypto companies, as previous representatives of the industry complained about difficulties with access to financial services.

Another important change is the elimination of conflicting accounting rules from the SEC, which complicates the activities of some companies working with cryptocurrencies.

The order also provides for studying the possibility of creating a national stock of digital assets. It is planned that the reserve can be formed from cryptocurrencies seized by law enforcement agencies.

Against the background of these changes, the price of Bitcoin increased to a record level of $ 109,071, but then fell to $ 103,000.
