The woman said she didn’t previously realize she was part of the “MAGA cult,” and considered Trump a “dangerous narcissist.”
One of the participants in the attack on the Capitol who was pardoned by US President Donald Trump refused the pardon. Sky News reported this on Wednesday, January 22.
It noted that former Trump supporter Pamela Hemphill, who was involved in the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, said she rejects the president’s pardon because it would be “a slap in the face to the rule of law.”
Hemphill was jailed for 60 days, explaining that he was part of what he called the “MAGA cult.”
“This would be a slap in the face of the rule of law, the Capitol Police and our country,” he said.
Hemphill noted that he did not want to be part of attempts to rewrite the history of the events of January 6, which he considered an uprising and admitted his guilt of participating in them.
He added that he didn’t realize at the time that he was part of a “cult” and that Trump was a “dangerous narcissist” who told the “huge lie that the election was stolen.”
But when you belong to the MAGA cult, there is so much pressure and insistence that you listen to nothing but Trump. Later, I realized that all this is nothing but propaganda and lies, and Trump himself is a truly dangerous narcissist,” he said.
Commenting on reports that some of those pardoned would be invited to the White House, he said it was a “nightmare” and that he personally wanted to be invited to Congress to tell what “really happened” on the day of the riots.
Let’s remember that in the first hours of his presidency, Trump signed an order pardoning about 1,500 of his supporters who were convicted of storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Before that, President Joseph Biden announced preemptive pardons for General Mark Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci and members of Congress who served on the committee investigating the attack on the Capitol.
