The authors expressed concern about the prime minister’s emotional and psychological state following the assassination attempt in May last year.
Experts in the field of psychiatry and psychology have written an open letter to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, expressing concern about his emotional and psychological state, advising him to correct his behavior in politics or abandon politics altogether. The Slovak publication Pravda reported this on Sunday, January 19, publishing the text of an open letter, whose main authors are professors Josef Gašto and Anton Geretik.
“Your political behavior is characterized by increasing power-authoritarian style, manipulation of facts, lies, slander and attacks on political opponents, journalists and ordinary citizens who show disagreement in your rules,” experts point out.
In an open letter, experts criticize the Prime Minister’s lack of attention to key areas such as education, health and infrastructure due to the government’s excessive focus on power ambitions.
They pointed out that Fico began to make incomprehensible statements about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and also indicated that his visit to Moscow and meeting with Vladimir Putin raised questions about him as a politician of a European state.
“You support actions contrary to the values of the European Union and NATO, of which Slovakia is a member,” the letter said.
The authors recall the assassination attempt on Fico and note that such an experience can have lasting emotional and psychological consequences.
The open letter also included advice for his resignation.
The letter is intended for further distribution in circles of psychologists and psychiatrists.
Let’s recall that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico complained to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who did not respond to his invitation to meet in Davos and threatened “measures” if the Russian gas supplies.
Robert Fico, after his trip to Moscow, invited Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to a meeting to resolve gas transit problems.
In turn, Zelensky invited Fico to visit Kyiv on Friday. Fico rejected this offer. However, on Friday, the leader of the opposition party Progressive Slovakia, Michal Šimečko, arrived in Kyiv. His party, according to the latest polls cited by Bloomberg, leads Fico’s party by 3% in ratings (23% versus 20%). After that, on Friday, Fico invited Zelensky to meet in Davos on January 21. Zelensky, in a commentary on Bloomberg, said that he cannot plan anything with Fico, because “he can go to Davos, but will end up in somewhere in Sochi.”
