In Cherkassy on the evening of January 17, a shooting occurred in a store on Mytnitskaya Street.

This was reported by the press service of the Cherkasy region police.

One of the visitors entered a local store with a gun and opened fire. The situation occurred when customers and staff were in the premises.

It is noted that despite the shock, store employees and customers were not at a loss – they disarmed the woman and called the police. The police who arrived at the scene detained the woman.

Investigators from the Cherkassy district police department are finding out the motives for her actions, which are classified under Part 4 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism. It is still unknown whether the woman was intoxicated, because she refused to confess, police said.

The court chose a preventive measure for the woman in the form of detention with the right to post bail. She faces from three to seven years in prison. The pre-trial investigation continues. The weapon was seized and sent for examination.
