A Russian military intelligence agent was detained in Kyiv.
A lawyer in the capital worked for the enemy, recruiting new agents for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense. In addition, the human rights activist defended the already exposed henchmen of the enemy in the courts. The Security Service of Ukraine announced this on Facebook on January 19.
Law enforcement officers established that the lawyer first helped the Russians “pick up” a spotter for enemy fire in Ukraine, and after the informant was detained, he defended him in court. He also passed on to the occupiers information about SBU officers who were listed in the materials of criminal proceedings and exposed traitors, and also copied and transferred procedural documents to representatives of the GRU.
The investigation found that the lawyer was recruited by Russian GRU officer Vitaly Naumov during a personal meeting on the territory of the aggressor back in 2015. For each completed task, he received a reward from the curator.
The lawyer was detained at his place of residence in Kyiv and during searches, his mobile phone, which he used to communicate with the enemy and other agents, was confiscated.
SBU investigators have already informed the detainee of suspicion under CC. 1, 2 tbsp. 111 (high treason committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrator faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Let us remind you that in the Odessa region, Ukrainian law enforcement officers detained a Russian agent who was correcting missile and drone attacks on local locations of the Defense Forces. For secrecy, he grew his hair long and posed as a girl – disguised as women’s clothing, he photographed military installations and recorded their coordinates.
