The EU executive asks X (Twitter) to provide internal documentation by 15 February 2025 about recommender systems and any recent changes made to them.
The European Commission has announced the expansion of its investigation into the social network X (Twitter), owned by American billionaire Elon Musk. This is stated in a message from the EC, report European Truth.
The EU executive asks X (Twitter) to provide internal documentation by 15 February 2025 about recommender systems and any recent changes made to them.
The European Commission also requires the social network to keep internal documents and information about future changes in the design and functionality of the recommendation algorithms until the end of 2025.
The EC also sent a request for access to some of the commercial data of X (Twitter), technical interfaces to its content, “allowing the direct determination of the facts of content moderation and the virality of accounts,” the statement said.
These events were announced as part of an investigation into whether Elon Musk’s social network complies with the provisions of the EU Digital Services Act.
As reported, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit against billionaire Elon Musk. He was accused of failing to timely disclose information about his share of shares of Twitter (now social network X) in early 2022, even before he acquired this social network.
Recall that in April 2022, billionaire Elon Musk bought the social network Twitter for $44 billion after weeks of negotiations.
